Good Book!

I love the stories in this book! I paid way too much for it a few years ago, now I hear its coming out again under a new name in July! Ouch! Anyway, if you like Rock n' Roll history and myth, this is it!!

Fascinating subject!

Just imagine all the great myths and legends of rock under one cover. The stories of Robert Johnson, I had never heard of him, at the "crossroads", the Zeppelin Curse, the Stones, Buddy Holly, Bobby Fuller, Morrison, Hendrix..they are all here. Many of these stories are simply "whispered myths" that are included with all their mystery to allow the reader to experience them first hand, especially if he/she wasn't there when these stories first made their rounds. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which stories are simply myths...Johnson really DIDN'T sell his soul to Old Scratch at the Crossroads...DUH!! I found the retrospective looks at the deaths of Henrix and Brian Jones especially appealing. The documentation of eyewitnesses who have come forth to tell the true story of what happened to these master musicians is worth the price of the book alone. I have never heard of Dowling Press so I'm sure that the editing could have been better. Maybe being a smaller publisher has something to do with this problem. I would advise them to get a new copy editor. I found the book to be fascinating and well worth the price of a journey throuigh rock's most interesting myths and legends. Once I started the book, I truly couldn't put it down. Believe me, this book comes very highly recommended! Also recommended "The Walrus Was Paul" Cool stuff about the Beatles trk into urban legendry.

This book contains a collection of great rock 'n' roll myths and legends--from Robert Johnson to Kurt Cobain. Sections are included on backward maskings, hidden messages and the strange and bizarre coincidences that claimed many of rock's most popular icons.
