Abridged version not disclosed

I unfortunately received an “adaptation” from Treasury of Illustrated Classics. My fault for being a novice book collector, I suppose. Will be donating this version and hunting for the unabridged classic.

Beautiful!

I got the Puffin in Bloom version of Heidi and I recommend it a lot. A great story, and a super pretty book with pictures and info in the back!!

Spring Read Aloud book

I ordered Heidi and received the one illustrated by Jessie Wilcox Smith. This book has been wonderful to read. It is so relaxing to get lost in the world of 5yr old little Heidi and her grandfather who not nearly as mean in the book at the movies make him out to be. A classic, timeless edition. I choice this one because it is unabridged which means it shortened, condensed, or reworded. It is not a "junior novelization", it isn't dumbed down or shortened... Which means it is a long book full of every tiny detail the author originally gave it. It is detailed, rich, beautiful, the words paint pictures and this one is void of no color or stroke. I bought it to read aloud to my 3, 6, & 8yr old but I got started reading it to myself in my free time and I'm hooked. We are finishing Uncle Wiggly's story book now and hope to start Heidi as a read aloud in April 2020. I highly recommend for anyone but I can't yet say how well my children 3-8 will enjoy it.

Shortened version of the actual book

I was really disappointed to find that this was not the complete story. It is a shortened version for young readers. I didn’t see that anywhere when I ordered the book.

Best Book EVER!

This is my favorite book I have read in a long time. And I have read many books. It has so many details. When I came to review this I was very mad it only had 1 star. Most of the Puffin books are okay, but this is the best!I am the type of person that puts down a book when it is boring or when I am disliking it. I did that with some of the Puffin books and many other books...not with this book. I was sad when I finished it because I wanted it to keep on going forever. I hope people think more of this book. If it didn't have a cover would you like it? Heidi is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it, love it, love it!!!

Great classic story! Well written! My kindergartener and I both love it! It was helpful for her to watch the movie with Shirley Temple before we began reading it, since some of the wording is a bit old-fashioned. But it is definitely a book she will grow into and enjoy even in the years to come. I like the little ribbon bookmark that it comes with, also.

Heidi

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this at age 65 as much or more than I did as a child. It is well written and superbly crafted for a reasonable price.

WHY AM I THE FIRST PERSON TO REVIEW THIS AMAZING BOOK???

This is a captivating, heart warming story of a five year old girl, who is sent to live with her grandfather, high on the swiss alps... Heidi's grandfather lived the life of a hermit, up on the mountain, rarely seen by anyone, untill Heidi, his only grandchild, comes from her aunt, who has looked after her since the death of her parents, to live with him. Heidi worms her way into the grumpy old man's heart in a way that no-one ever thought possible, with her childish affections, and the belief that her grandfather can do no wrong... But when Heidi is sent to live in the city, what will happen??? 'Heidi' is a simply written story that will captivate, and warm the hearts of all readers.

This is a great book!

At first I didn't want to read it becuase it looked too long. But then when I saw how big the words were and how nice the pictures were, I read it. It was a VERY good book. So read Heidi now!
