Heaven's War

The book was excellently done with a wonderful mix of intrigue, action, archelogy, espionage and a love story. The first chapter is brilliantly described, offering one of the most heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat pieces of prose I have ever read. Scott Jones has a wonderful gift of using the English language to make the most minute details come alive in your mind - and isn't that why many of us love to read? The book appears to be well researched and I learned a good deal through the historical setting in which the archeological treasure of the main characters' focus is placed. It was a great read - and left wide open for a sequel. Hope he writes it soon!

I liked it! Easy read, engrossing from the first page. I appreciated the fact that the author wrote an exciting historical mystery without relying on gratuitous sex and foul language. Good story. Well written.

Heaven's War is an exciting and dramatic book that takes you to the world of post Cold-war drama and the hotbed of religious faith and ultimate truth. Jones puts together the elements of mystery, action thriller, and a little bit of religious history/mythology, tying it all together with wit and a great writing style. However, he also reaches into the reader's heart in an attempt to stimulate the socio-religious conscience we have into thinking about issues beyond just the superficiality of fictional intrigue, murder, and lost treasure beyond our wildest imaginations. Jones keeps you anticipating almost every sentence, definitely placing this book as a genuine all-nighter. And although this book was one of the best books I have read, somehow, finishing the book only left me wanting for more. Definitely could be part of a series. A great book and a great author!
