An amazing balance of Jungian analysis and a spiritual perspective
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
John A . Sanford, Jungian Analyst and Episcopal Priest published this book in 1977, while residing with his family in San Diego, CA. After nineteen years as a parish priest he devoted himself full-time to counseling and lecturing, and has written several books including:"Dreams: God's Forgotten Language". His long-standing interest in psychology and religion, and in the healing process, began in 1952 with work with the late Fritz Kunkel, M.D., and continued through many years of work in Jungian analysis and thought. This book is a GEM of a book, though nothing that would catch the eye -- and the title does not tell it all. Talks about how to make the connection between the conscious and unconscious mind in order to resolve many of life's problems, both physically and mentally (and spiritually). He discusses chronic illness and its relation to finding answers in the unconscious mind. He does an excellent job in explaining many aspects of spiritual/mental healing and how this in turn, can heal the body...all way ahead of his time. He talks about yoga, meditation, dream interpretation, journaling, and the role of psychotherapy. He has some of the most insightful points on the role of the therapist, that I've ever read.
