Book Overview

Five Women. A Man. And a Plan. Meet Marcus Brooks. He's gorgeous. He's successful. He's the bestselling author of African American fiction. He's also the most obnoxious male alive.... Meet Raylene, Naomi, Thelma, Gwena, and Latice. They are five women who belong to a reading group, strong women with strong opinions. They don't take any grief from anyone (well, not if they can help it), and their friendships have stood the test of time. One night they...

I loved this book.

This was a great book told was good humor and colorful language. Without giving away any of the story I truly believe that he had it coming

Dishing Out What You Can't Take

As a rule, Marcus Brooks wasn't genuinely kind to anyone, but the mysogynistic Marcus Brooks, dished out plenty. A plenty of venom, name calling, pushing, shoving and even throwing things at females of every rank and file. Spencer prepares the reader well with a clear view of more than each character's personality, but a peek into their secret lives; no one escapes - they `all' have a secret. It is those `secrets' that finally tie them all together, but not without first causing them to burst at the seams. If ever there was a healthy helping of just desserts served it was at the parking lot bru-ha-ha. Don't worry about being horrified at unwarranted abuse toward poor defenseless women; there's no such concern, but the fight wasn't all in their favor either. This was the `I can't put this book down' point for me. How many times was this pendulum going to swing? When would the dishing and the taking finally resolve itself? Trying to imagine the outcome was about as easy as putting toothpaste back in the tube with a toothpick. The way Spencer squeezed loving and caring in between the chaos was nothing short of miraculous and she even manages to leave the reader with a reasonable explanation for it all. He Had It Coming is a good fast read and worth the time. Oh, I dare you try and guess who Marcus falls in love with.

Awesome

This book was the bomb, I read it in 1 day. Her best book yet I couldn't really get into All hell breaks loose kinda old.

Who is it??????

I read this book with a steady flow which, for me, means it was a good read. But it scares me that a man could have an all out bloody fistfight with women. Unbelievable. Okay, I wanna know the author in which Ms. Spencer was referring. Another reviewer said take a look at the initials. Is it Michael Baisden?

Are you talking about...................

He Had It Coming is definitely the most hilarious book I've read in quite some time. In the spirit of the movie Misery, Ms. Spencer is telling the tale of fans who aren't pleased with an author's work. But this book is much funnier! Camika Spencer, if I ever meet you I want to shake your hand. Never before has a fiction novel been so damn TRUE. Marcus Brooks, (look at his initials) is the author that every woman loves to hate. The air surrounding him is filled with arrogance and his conversation is peppered with attitude. With the impending release of his next novel B-I-T-C-H-E-S he has women everywhere in an uproar. He is being censored everywhere for this misogynistic piece of work and he has turned the whole situation into a man vs. woman battle. Well the women of one particular bookclub make a decision that they are not going to take his arrogant, narcissistic, nasty, ugly, crappy, stank azz behaviour anymore. They are going to do something about it. What do they do? They kidnap his arrogant tail to make him rewrite the novel. Although this novel is too funny for words, the fact that there are many male authors out here who are carbon copies of this fictitious character speaks volumes about the literary industry. Some of these authors are so freaking obnoxious you just want to say, "Get over yourself buddy. All you did was write a book, and uhm it ain't all that either." But when people get tired they get TIRED. Consumers are a strange breed, they might not say anything but when they stop buying books, well you know what happens. When enough is enough these super overinflated, egotistical, ignorant book-writing, wonder authors will realize they are just that, OVER! Readincolor Reviewer Simone Says

Comical and Entertaining

I enjoyed this book I tried to place arrogant authors that I have met in Marcus Brooks place and boy did I get a kick out of that. Marcus Brooks was a very hateful man who was messed up in the head by his Momma. I felt at times that he could have been reformed but then I felt maybe he was to old to change. Change is something that a person has to want for themselves not something you can make them do. But those ladies did try to reform Marcus's arrogant behind. This was a fastpaced interesting read.
