Phantoms, Ghosts, & Demons...

"Hauntings" by Time-Life Books is part of the Mysteries of the Unknown Series. This book contains 144 pages of dumbfounding information. Not only does Time-Life bring to the reader phantoms, ghosts, poltergeists, and demons in words but also Time-Life goes so far as to bring the viewer abstruse or shocking photos of the unknown. The book is spliced into four haunting chapters. Chapter one titled "The Haunted World" is enough to turn the readers bones to ice. That chapter starts off by conversing about an actress named Elke Sommer who bought a ghost-infested house. The story goes on to tell what happened to the lady & her family. Spindled throughout chapter one are many more bone-chilling stories & at the end of the chapter there is an essay entitled "Stepping into the Past." This happens to have a few tales of anachronism where suddenly different people find their selves are in the wrong time period. Chapter two is called "The Poltergeist Riddle" tells peculiar stories of objects moving without anyone touching them. This chapter is a true riddle that will puzzle the mind. The essay at the end of the chapter is dubbed "Ghosts from Watery Graves" & portrays different phantasms such as appearing & disappearing ships (includes Great Eastern, Queen Mary, & more). Chapter three labeled "Horrific Hauntings" & horrific the stories are... The third page into the chapter depicts two hands strangling a poor woman in distress. Also told in this chapter is the notorious narration of the Bell Witch of Tennessee. The essay at the end of the chapter is designated "Haunted Washington" which mostly talks about hauntings in the capital house (its no wonder Washington is haunted with all the politicians living there). Finally the last chapter is called "Haunters and Hunters" & for a finality Time-Life presents the reader with a story located in Sussex, England. This is a scary tale of a family being pestered by ghosts that took place in 1934. In conclusion Time-Life has again proven itself worthy of five stars. With ghosts, phantoms, & demons in one book 'tis hard to go wrong. Not only will this book prove to of interest but one can always go back & use it as a reference.
