It is true to life. Friends, animals and her openness to share. Very well written. Wished there were more writers like her. We need more peaceful books now.

I just discovered Gladys Taber a couple of years ago. This book is very well written. The way that Gladys writes makes you feel as if you are there with her experiencing what she does. Very enjoyable.

In truth, I have not read this book. But I will as soon as I can get it! Gladys Taber is a gem. I found the book, Country Chronicle at a yard sale, and I have read it and reread it. I am going to get all the books I can of hers, even the Cookbooks! Knowing that all of her work is going to be excellent, there would be no exceptions.Most all of her books, except a rare few can be bought for four or five dollars. Just have to search around. I first heard of Gladys Taber through quotes in books by Susan Branch. Every quote was so touching and simple, and I immediately wanted to find out more about Taber. I soon found that many of her books are out of print and cost an arm and a leg, but sometimes I have luck and find an affordable copy. Her books will definitely be heirlooms in my family...Taber was a rare soul and shares such amusing anecdotes about friendship and family, such touching contemplations on war and life and love.
