Hansi's New Life

I'm only a third way through the book, but have enough feeling about it to feel comfortable about it. My son's wife's dad was recruited into the Hitler youth movement at about 7 or 8 yrs old. While reading the book, I remembered talking to him. Hansi, a young Czeckoslavian girl, was enamored with Hitler. He was her God. When Hitler shot himself, it really tore her up to the point where she even contemplating suicide. Several years later, her husband and 2 young children arrived on the East coast. It took her at least 2 years to get over the culture shock between America and Germany. All the time, she confided in God. Finally, during an emergency ulcer surgery, everything clicked and Hansi started enjoying her new life. It sure gave me a new insight on life and why the impoverished countries who have nothing and we have everything and waste so much why they hate the US. Hansi is a brilliant observer and and is able to point out many many of our weak points. Thanks for taking time to read this. Carl
