Hansel and Gretel

I read the book Hansel and Gretel by Ruth Belov, and illustrated by Winslow Pinny. This book is about a boy named Hansel and a girl named Gretel, brother and sister who get thrown out of their home. They come back the first time thanks to Hansel and some little pebbles but next the mean ugly scary stepmother makes sure they don't come back so they have to survive in the forest with only the smallest piece of bread. The next morning while they were still looking for her they spot a candy house, walls made out of ginger-bread and roof made of cake, windows made of sugar candy. They were so hungry so they started nibbling on the house, but then suddenly slam, the door opened and an ugly old woman was standing in the doorway. " Who is nibbling on my house?" said the old woman. "Come in, come in, you must be starving!" So the old woman fed them and they spent the night. They thought she was nice but she was a wicked witch and she put Hansel in a cage. She was going to eat him. She used Gretel to do the work around the house and when she told her to make a fire and stick her head in to see if the bread would cook well, she said,"How?" The witch showed her and Gretel pushed her into the fire, saved Hansel and they both ran until they found their way home. They both lived happily ever after.
