Hand-Me-Down Heartache

This book defines the lives of many young women. I can easily relate to the emotional pain felt by the characters in this book. This is by far one of my top five books. I can not believe there are people that did not enjoy this book. I personally felt like part of my life story was being told in this book and I am not afraid to admit it!

I thought this book was a terrific book. I believe all females should read this book. things like this go on in real life, so you can relate to it. This book is a must read.

Bold and impressive, in this novel, Butler explores a very serious issue of abuse and mental degredation, which unfortunately appears to be a behavior that is handed down a generation.The novel opens with Nina (aka "Ninu") sharing with her brother Bryce, her opnion of their parents horrible marriage. The story then whirlwinds into Nina's vow to herself to never allow a man to control her......and then she falls in love with Maurice, who's handsome and on his way to becoming a professional athelete. Maurice is everything a woman would want......or is he?While Nina struggles to keep up with the pace of Maurices' new found stardom, she slowly but surely falls victim to that old phrase "hopelessly in love" and finds herself caught in the middle of true love versus that of reality.Guaranteed to keep you going, Hand Me Down Heartache is a sure winner and a must read for all who thought that love is all one needs!

ALL FAMILY HAve SECRETS. SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS, BUT SECRETS ALL THE SAME. I COULD RELATE TO THIS BOOK, FROM A PERSONAL STAND POINT. MOST OF US ARE, OR KNOW A "NINA". KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO SHARE OR LISTEN TO OTHERS DISCUSS "SHAMEFUL" THINGS.THIS BOOK HITS ON QUITE A FEW SUBJECTS. FADELITY, ABUSE AND SELF LOVE BEING AMONG THE TOP FEW.THE SCENE AT (THE DOG) MAURICES HOUSE, HAS BEEN PLAYED OUT TOO MANY TIMES, BY TOO MANY SISTER FOR US (AFRICAN AMERICANS) NOT TO FEEL WHAT THE AUTHOR IS PUTTING OUT THERE. IT IS A STAND ALONE, SO EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE AUTHORS PREVIOUS BOOK "SORORITY SISTERS", YOU WILL INJOY IT.THIS BOOK IS A FAST, ENTERTAINING AND ENLIGHTNING READ. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT.MS. BUTLER HAS DONE IT AGAIN. HER FIRST NOVEL WAS ALSO WONDERFUL. I LOOK FORWARD TO HER NEXT RELEASE WITH ANTICIPATION.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Hand me down heartache reads like a movie and, although the story is told from a woman's perspective, the male bashing is kept to a minimum. I liked that! Leo is a character who a lot of guys will identify with, a thoughtful, considerate brother who's at first kicked to the curb because the main character, Nina, is deeply in love with a dog named Maurice, who treats her badly. TJ Butler has crafted a wonderful story about family, life, love and relationships. Guys, do yourself a favor and pick up this book.(FYI: the pink cover is easily removable.)
