Ever since the invention of the potter's wheel, thrown pottery has dominated in the West. This historical dominance means we must look to cultures such as African or Indian American, which never learned or accepted the use of the wheel. This book derives inspiration from the pottery of these cultures and examines both contemporary and traditional ceramics.
