This is my favorite Sophie Weston book! I love the characters, and I love that the heroine tries so hard to hide the fact that she loves the hero. In typical Weston fashion, the hero is a powerful executive type with a strong personality, quick temper, and no time for less than perfection in the workplace. He's a ladies' man who never becomes serious about any of the glamorous women he escorts around town; this is why his secretary, ordinary-and-efficient Sally knows it is a bad idea to fall in love with him, but she can't help it. However, Paul really does care for Sally, who again, like all of Weston's other heroines, has psychological problems, usually stemming from some sort of previous abuse. (Please tell me that I'm not the only Sophie Weston reader that worries about the author since all of her heroines have this common and disturbing thread...) Back to the book: Sally is a genuinely nice girl, and Paul is the kind of man she knows she'll never be able to have. Fate intervenes; Sally has to deal with unexpected family problems. Paul is also having issues with his relatives and his business. To solve problems on both sides, Paul and Sally decide to get married; Sally believes it is a business arrangement. However, Paul seems to want more than a marriage of convenience...but Sally can't let him discover her secret love for him. A very sweet story.
