I have had chronic heartburn for 17 yrs. I saw her show on PBS. Because of her, my problem is finally solved. She recommends high fiber, omega 3, probiotics, and enzymes. I had already been taking fish oil pills for omega 3 and eating raw fruits and vegetables for fiber and enzymes. But I was missing a few things I needed to solve my digestion/heartburn problem. I think the most important thing was taking betaine hydrochloride pills. Those add more acid to my stomach, which improves digestion and closes the esophagus sphincter so that the stomach contents don't come up into my esophagus. I also take multi-enzyme pills, which increase the amount of digestive enzymes in your stomach to improve digestion. I take more enzyme pills if I'm eating cooked foods, and not so much if I'm eating raw food, since raw food has its own enzymes. Also, when my stomach is empty I take a capsule of glutamine, which helps to heal your digestive system. Lastly, I have started drinking Kefir, which is a thick, fermented milk. It's supposed to be very healthy and healing to your digestive system. I think it's helping me a lot. It seems to sooth my stomach. It feels life-giving! So after doing all the things I described above, my stomach feels good and healthy. I don't get heartburn at all anymore. My digestive system seems to be working very well. I don't get constipation or any other bowel problems. I'm very regular. I feel like my stomach is now finally healed and working well. All those doctors prescribing antacids and acid-blockers are doing people a lot of harm. Very few people have too much acid. Most people with chronic heartburn have too little acid! Taking antacid makes it worse! This is what they never tell you in all those TV commercials for antacids. I think most doctors prefer to make money on treatments and prescriptions that don't solve the real problem, so that the patients will remain sick and the doctors and the drug companies can make more money. A few doctors like Brenda Watson actually care about truly solving people's health problems.

I first was introduced to the concepts in this book on a PBS special. I thought wow, she is talking about me! I got the book and page after page made sense. What is really helpful is the menu planning and the charts, etc...
Very Informative Book

As a fellow Certified Colon Hydrotherapist, I feel that this book is a wonderful assest to any library. It makes it very easy to understand. The topic of digestion is something that everyone is interested in but many people don't ask their doctors or any other health care professional. The digestive system is essential for the rest of our body to work properly. I hope that this book gives hope to everyone that is suffering with any digestive issues or if they know someone who is.
Natural Digestive Care Solutions--Finally
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 20 years ago
It's about time someone came out with an easy to understand book about natural solutions for digestive diseases and disorders. What's good about this book, is that it actually explains information about the disorder you are suffering from (what causes it, how did you get it, what is it), then it tells you what your traditional doctor will want you to do, finally the book tells you how to take care of what you are suffering from naturally. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is suffering from disgestive diseases/disorders. It's made all the difference in the world for me.
