I've read many different pet books, mainly on dogs and rats. But I've also read a few on guinea pigs because 'm planing to purchase a few as pets pretty soon. I can tell you easily that this is the best pet book I've ever seen! It thoroughly explains all matters of guinea pig care and even includes a table for feeding amounts! This book is an excellent first book for a new Guinea Pig owner. It is written in very clear English and discusses almost every major topic that would concern a new pet owner. Each chapter is focused and easy to follow. Information is not cluttered with a lot of technical detail. Any child (8+) should be able to read this book with little difficulty. The chapter on Guinea Pig communications is priceless. Many a pet owner has wondered what a certain sound means, now they will have a much better idea of what their pet is trying to communicate. The photos are all of fairly young animals, which are especially cute! The index is wonderfully complete and accurate. In all, a well written and well laid out book for the new Guinea Pig owner
