Fun book

This book was an excellent read! What a refreshing take on supernatural fiction! This author presented some interesting ideas and made them believable. While the ideas are not new, her take on them and her writing style were clear and well written. I would have liked to see more plot twists, but since the author's focus seemed to be more on character development and character relationships(which is what really made this book great), it would have just bogged down the overall story. It's funny, because one of the main complaints expressed by other readers was that there were too many subplots going on; I have to agree that that is true, but to me it seems believable in that a PI is not just working on one case at a time, but has several cases at once. I do have to agree with the othre big complaint that the main character Harper indulged in tooooooo much denial and was constantly reporting how tired she was. Still, that being said, this book was head and shoulders above many of the other books that are out there in this genre. I am looking forward to seeing many more books from this author in this series!

A good choice -- looking forward to more

I came across this book while browsing the horror section for writers I had never read. I stumbled across this book and it sounded interesting. I'm glad I bought it because it was great. The characters were all well-laid out and very interesting. The story itself was, at least to me, a new take on the ghost and vampire world. The book was written from the perspective of a private investigator, and, since I don't read many mysteries, it was a refreshing change. Greywalker was a quick and entertaining read, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, due for release later this year.

Intriguing Paranormal!

Greywalker by Kat Richardson Harper Blaine, a private investigator, was dead for two minutes before she was brought back to life. Since then everything is a little grey, and I mean literally grey. She is now a Greywalker, where she can step from one realm to another where vampires, ghosts, and other creatures of the night lurk. Now Harper attracts a new type of clientele, and they aren't creatures that she is particularly happy to meet. She feels the evil and creepy existence of them like an overwhelming tide ready to take her under, but she doesn't know how to keep them at bay. She takes on a novice vampire as a client; becomes involved with a witch and her magic; a necromancer, and his chilling influences; and an artifact that threatens all things connected to the Grey and that includes her. She must uncover how everything is connected before it's too late, choose her allies, and try not to be eliminated in the process. Ms. Richardson takes us into a new realm of the mystical with an intriguing cast of characters. There's mystery, suspense, and little bit of romance in this fast paced-paranormal making you want to turn to the next page and find out what's going to happen. I didn't want to put this book down! This reader looks forward for another chilling tale from this author. Highly recommended!

loved what others hated

I liked what others disliked in this book. The explorations of what it means to be a greywalker, for instance, bored some. I enjoyed those experiences. I'm looking forward to the next installments. Laer Carroll

satirical fantasy mystery

In Seattle private investigator Harper Blaine expected an apology and a check from her client, but instead he hammered her head with his fists and slammed it against the doorjamb before completing his beating of the sleuth. A few days later Harper awakens in the hospital where Dr, Skelleher informs her she had died for two minutes before they managed to bring her back. Nothing is the same since the incident as now Harper sees ghosts and other paranormal essences that she cannot classify. Even stranger her clients take a gruesome twist as she has started to have walk-ins from the shadowy realm beyond the mortal plane. She needs professional help and a psychiatrist would cost too much money. So instead she turns to Linguistics Professor Ben "ghost guy" Danziger and his "bewitching" wife Mara to instruct her on supernatural 101, 102, and advanced courses. Life is not the same for this GREYWALKER though she tries by dating a normal antiques expert while she is one bite away from being the vampire king's dessert as she blunders on a case from beyond. This is an amusing somewhat satirical fantasy mystery starring a delightful female who gaining an on the job education as an almost human sleuth. The story line is fast-paced, but belongs to the heroine who hopes by dating the norms she can keep one foot out of the graveyard. Fans will enjoy the delightfully entertaining detective story that moves back and forth between worlds as the tyro GREYWALKER learns about life, death, and a myriad of grey in-betweens.
