Green Leaf In Drought

Great book. I read it in three hours...couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.

Necessary read for all Christians

Isabel Kuhn's account of the life in and ultimate leaving from China is an invaluable part of anyone's library of Christian classics. But even more, this book teaches a marvelous lesson, or rather, a series of learning experiences which most American Christians have not experienced. This missionary family learned the value of Christian community under impossible circumstances; they learned the need to "rest" in the Providence of a faithful God; they learned to live one day at a time; they learned that no external political force can make a substantive "dent" in personal faith nor have power to discourage or defeat unless that power is give to them. In all, we all need to learn these lessons. I read this book many years ago and have re-read it a number of times in the years since. Its lessons never cease to instruct me and to act as a corrective to my attitudes that become askew as I live in a materialistic, self-absorbed culture.

A pathway through suffering

This book will touch your emotions and inspire your mind in an unforgettable way. The faith of Arthur and Wilda Mathews amazes me. Their insight into the purposes of God, their ability to trust and obey, and their humble resolve in the face of great difficulty are a testimony to the sustaining power of God. Few people have lived as deep a firsthand experience of uncertainty and hardship as the Mathews. Only God could give the Mathews family the faith and courage to live through the events recorded in this book.

A beautiful, amazing testimony of faith during hardship!

I could not read this book without crying, it was so full of God's grace and care for those who give up all to follow Christ. Filled with eye-witness accounts of the Chinese Communistic terrors, this book is both inspiring and entertaining.

Much help for Christians who are suffering

The Matthews family were among the last missionaries out of China as the country went down to the Communists. This is the story of the two years they spent near the Mongolian border, tested in every way. Their faith grew strong in the Refiner's fire, as they found the Living God able to meet every need. This book will give you principles and practical help for the suffering you are undergoing as a believer in Jesus Christ.
