Book Overview

Sarah is no stranger to drama. So when this talented actress and a P.I. hears that her best friend's husband is suddenly on his deathbed back home, she snaps into "action " and gets right on the case... Turns out others in Zinnia, Mississippi, have fallen prey to the illness as well. The folks from the Centers for Disease Control are on the scene, but they can't find a cure for it...or for the boll weevils that are decimating Sunflower County's cotton...

Great Bones!

My only aggravation with Greedy Bones is that I didn't start at the beginning of Haines's Bones series. I loved the book, a cozy with subtle paranormal tendencies. Sarah Booth Delaney is an unexpected investigator--actually an actress with plenty of curiosity and love of her hometown and childhood friends. She leaves Tinsel Town to head home and support close friends in a dior and deadly situation. As she investigates the strange cotton crop in Sun Flower County, she puts herself in danger time and time again. Carolyn Haines is my new favorite cozy writer. I highly recommend this series to all who love a good mystery without gruesome scenes. Hats off to Haines from one mystery writer to another!

Sarah Booth at it again.

I've enjoyed every one of these 'Bones' books. Sarah Booth is trying to find out what has made her best friend's husband, and several other locals, deathly ill. It all seems to stem from an old deserted plantation with a horrid past. Very good reading.

great story and characters

this series is fast paced and a quick read. Can't wait for the next book to find out what happens next to these characters.

Sarah Booth and the ladies of Zinnia's further adventures

This is the latest of the Sarah Booth Delaney series. About the series, Sarah Booth returned to her Zinnia roots after trying to launch herself as an actress in New York City. Desperate to save her old ancestral home and find a niche for herself in Zinnia, Sarah Booth becomes an unintentional private detective. While the series requires the suspension of disbelief (it comes complete with a resident "haint" -- Sarah Booth's personal ghost at the house), the books are fast paced, tremendous fun with a full roster of recurring characters and friends from Zinnia. Similar to a cozy, but Sarah Booth is more likely to found drinking Jack Daniels than tea. In this installment, Sarah Booth Delaney returns to Zinnia after her foray to Hollywood to find multiple people, including her friend and partner's husband, seriously ill and hospitalized with an unknown ailment. The only thing in common--all had been at a local plantation with remarkably well-developed cotton plants. The sick are getting sicker and time is running out. Sarah Booth and her friends must find out the source of this mysterious ailment before more fall. This was a great, fun, fast read and I highly recommend the series. However, if you haven't yet read any of the others, this might not be the best introduction to the series.

she just gets better and better

Sarah Booth Delaney is one of my most favorite fictional character's to ever reside within the pages of a book. Wading into the pool of scientific mayhem associated with genetically altered crops and virus vs bacteria, in Greedy Bones, I thought she'd almost gotten in over her head a time or two in this episode of what is new with Sarah Booth and the good folks of Zinnea, Mississippi. Carolyn Haines has an imagination equivalent of Merlin's magic, and if I didn't know her better, I'd almost have to say she's outdone herself with this one, but I do know her better, and Greedy Bones just wets my appetite for what will come next in the world of Sarah Booth Delaney. She just gets more and more interesting with each book. Where ever Carolyn takes these folks, you can rest assured, you will want to go with them.
