I love peasant food, and I enjoyed this book. It's more about experiencing food than a cookbook, but certainly has worthwhile recipes. In my eyes the author gets points for not only visiting Bulgaria in the days of the Cold War (I'm Bulgarian-American) but for also providing cucumber buying tips -- I love tarator and other cucumber salads. You're going to find better and more thorough cookbooks out there, but if you enjoy books about travel, food, and the people you meet along the way, pick this one up as a paperback.
