Another Great Issue from Granta

Hidden Histories is a theme running throughout all the stories in this issue. A woman in her 40's decides to have a child after having an abortion earlier in her life. It results in a miscarriage that nearly takes her life. A failed British Navy officer named Spicer who has always wanted to be a hero gets his chance in ousting the Germans from Lake Tanganyika and ending their primacy in East Africa. A man named Brian Cathcart goes in search of another man about his age named Brian Cathcart. A female author writes as a man. All these are intruiging stories and quite enjoyable to read.
