A riveting history of a family traveling across the Midwest in a covered wagon is narrated by the author's 94-year-old grandmother. Packed with everyday details, this unsentimental, down-to-earth... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I knew my first grader would enjoy a book about covered wagons, but was pleasantly surprised to learn this book began and ended in our part of Missouri, near Joplin. It was great to read about places we were familiar with and the book was written in a way that was clear and easy for my son to understand, but not so simple that it was boring. It's a well written narrative and vividly describes both the good and bad parts of life in this area during the early 1900s. Highly recommended!
