Read before you call a building a money pit.

About the Author Erwin Panofsky taught art history at the University of Hamburg until he and his family had to flee the Nazi regime. In time he became a member of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, and in 1948 he delivered Saint Vincent College's second annual Wimmer Lecture. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. The author identifies the growth of Gothic architecture with scholastic philosophy. 60 photos and renderings in the back of the book, and extensive footnotes follow the essays in here. 156 pp. Rare book, highly recommended.
