GREAT BOOK

this is one of those books that stands the test of time.even to this day I read this book. I am 24 almost 25 yrs old and I read this book ages ago when I was 14 it helped Me thru My eating disorder. it's also a good story as well.

This is an excellent book.

Rosemary is a 17 yr old girl, who has an eating disorder. Her parents and best friend discover this, and she goes to the doctor. The doctor tells her all about the things she is doing and she is shocked at this, it's as if he's been spying on her! She's frightened, but at first she just tries to get away from everybody, until she's hospitalized and realizes that what she is doing is going to kill her.

A chilling return to my former "reality".

Upon reading Goodbye Paper Doll, I was slapped in the face with reality. As an anorexic, I was shocked to find an entire book written about a young girl who almost starved herself to death... for a certain kind of attention. Watching Rosemary spiral down into that kaliedescope of altered self image and starvation, charged by a need to please, a sense of belonging and strong will was like viewing the better part of my life... a slow suicide. I highly recommend this little paperback to anyone, especially my fellow starvelings out there. Read this... re-read it!! Merely acknowledging the statistics isn't enough. Goodbye Paper Doll is a familiar story... an easy read, so go for it! Devour it! Especially if it's all you'll eat today...

This book changed my life!

I read this book as an assignment in health class. It changed my life, I went from an anorexic teenager to a real person. The main character was so real,I found myself crying at her experiences. I hope this book will change other teenagers as well. I read it at least 5 years ago and still haven't got it out of my mind, it was that powerful. I can only hope it will be re-released.

Fantastic, and informative

I read this book when I was in high school back in the '80's. It was frightening to find out what some people will do to be accepted, or how our environment will give teenagers a false sense of what is normal, acceptable, and popular. This is a good book to give to **ANY** teenager, or a parent of a young adult. Sometimes what we as parents see, isn't reality, we sometimes overlook our children's silent scream for help. It is too bad this book is out of print, I urge the publishers to rerelease it
