Favorite Cookbook Ever

I was given this cookbook when I first left home and 20 years later it is still the first cookbook I turn to whether holiday menu planning or browsing for something new to try. It has color photos of EVERY recipe, great tips and tricks and all the classic comfort foods [and a few new twists] organized in a way that makes intuitive sense whether you are browsing for menu ideas, looking for something to do with lamb or searching the index for a favorite cookie recipe. Good melting pot representation of "All-American" cuisine and ingenuity with pantry staples. Every cook should have this book--a great reference to learn the foundations of cooking and still offer something new for the experienced cook. Recipes are easy to follow, give ample information regarding time, materials, substitutions, variations, servings, calories, etc. These recipes never fail and my family always loves them. I love it, use it and gift it often.
My first and only cookbook

I have been using this book since I received it as a high school graduation gift from my mother in 1993. My mother didn't cook when I was growing up, so neither did I . . . until I got this book. I have used it so much that every page in the book has come unbound. Everything I have ever made from this book has turned out perfectly. The step by step instructions make it easy to follow along. The best part about this book in my opinion is the color photo section. Every single recipe has been prepared and beautifully photographed, so that you can see what it SHOULD look like! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to cook, beginners and more advanced cooks.
