A 4th Grade Student Review

Goldie is a good dog loving book. If you want a good happy book you found the right one. I rated this book five stars because I love this series and there are many fun adventures in this story. The people who are fostering Goldie are Charles, Lizzy, and there mom & dad.(Which is very nice) When the Petterson's find an old couple who is working to get a puppy a disaster happens. Will the Petersons ever find a forever home for Goldie? I hope you choose to read this book and you will be pleased I sure was. ~Lilly

Our six year old loves this book and so do we!

I think this book is just delightful. For any family who has a dog, wants a dog, loves dogs or even just likes them, this is a wonderful book to read aloud. Goldie is the first in a series of six books called the Puppy Place. We now have 5 of the books! First, our daughter thought Goldie was the best (and the fluffiest), then she liked Snowball, then Shadow--you get the idea. What we like about the books is that they are not too grown up, but do contain some "real world" concepts, very appropriately presented. For example, the youngest child in the family, Adam (but his nickname is The Bean), is adopted. The author mentions this matter of factly and moves on. By the way, The Bean is so sweet. He likes to pretend he is puppy and eat from a bowl on the floor! These sweet books also have an element of suspense: where will the foster puppy go when it is time? Highly recommended!

Currently my [...]favorite series of books...

and she doesn't even like dogs! There are 4 books in this series, she is on the 3rd one and has loved each one. She is in [...]and had no trouble reading or understanding the books, so I think the age range given here (9 to 12) is a little misleading, The plot is very straighforward, which is why she is able to read them. We recently got a puppy (she wanted a kitten, but her dad is allergic) and she's learned alot about puppies, how to care for them and why they do what they do, so even though this isn't great literature it's helpful in that regard. One odd think that she had noticed - the main characters have a baby brother who is 3 - but can't talk and crawls around on the floor - her brother is 3 and he's certainly not like that. I don't know if the author just doesn't know about small children or the child has some disability that the book doesn't talk about, but my daughter always brings it up as "weird."
