This is just one in a series of Raymond Drake's "Gods and Spacemen..." books that are in a series of four--The Ancient West, The Ancient East, Greece & Rome, and Ancient Israel. Sure, scoff at the subject matter, but consider that the vast majority of us are programmed from head to toe and have been since birth. In that sense, one may seek to muster the courage, open mindedness, intellect, and curiosity to consider the subject matter of this book and the others in this series as being extraordinarily serious in content and ramification. Even if one is hopelessly parochial and stuck in his or her narrow programmed broadband of comprehension, consider that these books were on the desks of dignitaries at the United Nations during the 1960s and 1970s. These were serious people who were seriously interested in Drake's work. At minimum, the amazing primary source material that Drake uses as references to elaborate his theses is reason enough to scope out at least one, if not all four of these books. Each has its own flavor, my favorite being "Gods & Spacemen of Ancient Israel," although they are all great.
