Amazing book filled with challenge and truth. Very important life lessons, spiritual and nonspiritual related.

A Wonderful Way to Be Uplifted in Quick Snippets

Other reviewers have done a thorough job in offering details about this book. I appreciate this book also for the ease with which I can open it up and receive a nugget quickly. The Title is fabulous and I keep the book in eye's view to quickly remind me to re-set and re-connect with goodness. I continue to enjoy GOD NEVER BLINKS -- thank you, Regina, for sharing your world. Wishing you blessings.

the short stories will bring you to tears, make you laugh and sign with the thought that we are all

"" I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the moutnain top, back and forth. I dont believe in that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railraod track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad to be worked on, And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something to thank God for."" Pastor Rick Warren, when he discovered his wife had cancer. A collection of personal and other people's experiences that will rock you to your core. Not a religious lecture, but a short and poigant recollection of what life events teach us. I think the experiences will resonant with a lot of people and I know I will keep coming back to many of the stories just to remind myself that life goes on, with or without us. I think it helped me to keep going when I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, that I need to accept the new reality when life create changes so huge that it couldnt continue the way it was; it may not be a great or as worse that before, but that I am still here and present. I think you will find your own truth and your own tears, laughter and nods when you go through each chapter. Unfortuantely, it seems we only see life for what it really is when we are confronted with a potential terminal event; but if it means it changes us long enough to really live life, however long it may be, it is worth having that experience. This book does just that by reminding us: live life.

Read in small doses!

This is a great little book, but take the time to absorb its message! This is a very inspirational little book! Great to keep in your purse and read a paragraph or two, while waiting in long lines, and then contemplate the message!

Down To Earth Wisdom

This is an easy to read night table book filled with 50 three to four page lessons that point the way to a happier life. I particularly enjoyed the first lesson - 'Life isn't fair, but it's still good'. Much of it is the common sense wisdom acquired by maturity and the experience of dealing with life as it presses upon us. Regina Brett is a gifted storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. The book may be a bit too theologically oriented for some readers, although I felt it was more spiritual than religious. A worthwhile read!

Encouragement and hope

Okay, I've got to admit that when I saw the Deepak Chopra endorsement I almost didn't open the book. I'm just not a very "New Age" kind of guy. That said, I'm glad I did. So much of our happiness or unhappiness in life derives from our attitude and perspective, and much of that comes from choices we make along the way. Many of us fall into patterns early in life. We let others' perceptions (or our perceptions of others' perceptions) determine how we think of ourselves. This book is a prescription for rethinking ourselves and the world around us, and making good, life-affirming choices. There are 50 essays in the book, but far fewer themes: don't take yourself or others too seriously, don't let your past determine your future, reach out, enjoy the ride. While not strictly a religious or Christian book, it's similar to wisdom literature like Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Like them, as another reviewer observed, this is not a theology book; I don't think that was the author's intent. But it has a ton of good, kind, compassionate thoughts on what makes for a joyful and fulfilling life. I enjoyed it.
