The Alignment of the Spiral Stairwell looking UP
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
i recommend this book for A Course In Miracles (ACIM) students who have completed the Course. Ever experience something during the day that resonated with what you learned from the Course as Truth? Ever read the ACIM text and get "lost" in the terminology? The book helps maximize what you have learned on a term. IE abundance, alter, atonement, child, Christmas, illusion, laughter, periods of unsettling, questions, sickness & toys. All major terms are covered; first by a simple clear definition and then by more detailed references such as dream, fear, gap, guilt, idols, sin, time, war and world for the term "TOY". These references cover all aspects of the Course including "The Song of Prayer". Ken Wapnick, the author, views the Course as a ladder that takes on a spiral upward. When looking up a term in this book, it is like looking up a spiral stair and seeing all the terms in vertical alignment. It is a thrill!
Invaluable resource in clarifying Course definitions

This book could really be called the "Glossary, Index, and Dictionary for A Course In Miracles." As any Course student knows, A COURES IN MIRACLES has its own definition for most words it uses, and often the definitions are the opposite of common usage. The word "miracle" itself has a different definition in the Course: "the change of mind that shifts our perception from the ego's world of sin, guilt, and fear, to the Holy Spirit's world of forgiveness; reverses projection by restoring to the mind its causative function, allowing us to choose again; transcends the laws of this world to reflect the laws of God; accomplished by our joining with the Holy Spirit or Jesus, being the means of healing our own and others' minds. (Note - not to be confused with the traditional understanding of miracles as changes in external phenomena)." - Page 152Many other words and phrases found in A COURSE IN MIRACLES are defined here, around 200 in all. Examples of words and phrases defined are: Atonement, sin, Christ, mind, Holy Spirit, Holy Relationship, form-content, forgiveness, illusion, lilies, looking at the ego, "ideas leave not their source," Jesus, and many more. Each word or phrase that is defined has a corresponding index of where the words appear within A COURSE IN MIRACLES. This book starts with a six page description of Course theory, and even has a graph to describe the theory of how A COURSE IN MIRACLES addresses two levels of reality: Level 1 (Heaven and the non-dual world of God, which is ultimately the only reality), Level 2 (the physical world in which we live, which is ultimately illusory). The book ends with an index to all Bible references in A COURSE IN MIRACLES. The edition of this book that I have is the 1999 5th edition, which is paperback and is 349 pages long.
