A Creative nonfiction memoir about the lives and loves of three generations of American American women. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As a young woman of the same age as Ms. Tarpley with very similar life experiences, I was truly moved by her ability to so effectively communicate her story. Her voice is strong and reveals great wisdom and confidence. Yet, there is also a calmness, which suggests innocence and frailty. This mix of emotions was effective in characterizing the search for connectedness which so many young African American women find themselves involved in.
A book about black history, family history and love.

This book tells the story of black migration north, of strong independent woman who still need love and how they find that love (good and bad). It is a short, powerful novel that shows strong family ties in a very poetic way. It gives the reader a lot to think about which is what good books do.
