Gifted Hands, Revised Kids Edition: The Ben Carson Story

I feel this book would be great for all middle school children! I read a shortened version with my fourth graders and ordered this book to read for myself. It is very inspirational.

I got this book to inspire to 10 nephew to reach his goals. He's not an avid reader but thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This is such a great book for kids. We need more real heroes for them to look up to and to give them inspiration. Its good to have honorable people who can be role models for young readers. This book is well written and a true inspiration.

Kids today need worthy heroes. Someone who isn't just another entertainer or athlete. Dr. Ben Carson fits the bill. For years he's been a role model for millions. This book tells his story in a readable, fast-paced style that will inspire and motivate kids to set meaningful goals for their lives. I've given it to several of the kids in my extended family and they are fascinated. And their parents have enjoyed it as well.

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down and, even when I finished it, I went back to look again at the great pictures and the parts that were so inspiring to me. What an inspiring life and this account of it is so readable and enjoyable! How many other Ben Carsons are out there who won't have a mother like his to teach them discipline and prod them toward greatness. This should be required reading for kids in Junior High -- what a change we'd see in test scores and ambition. Kids need to know that with hard work and discipline they can achieve their goals. Great work, Lewises, you brought this man's story to life!!

I enjoyed reading this book. I'd already read the other biography of Carson by Lewis, and so his story was not new to me. His story is both fascinating and inspiring. I'm a reading specialist in a pubic elementary school, and I am always looking for true stories that are both appropriate and inspiring for my students to read. This is a great book that provides the story of a positive role model for kids. I would recommend it for readers of any age, but especially children.
