Book Overview

When troops entered Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the South seemed to be winning the Civil War. But Gettysburg was a turning point. After three bloody days of fighting, the Union finally won the battle. Inspired by the valor of the many thousands of soldiers who died there, President Lincoln visited Gettysburg to give a brief but moving tribute. His Gettysburg Address is one of the most famous speeches in American history.

Good youth-oriented introduction

This book is an excellent youth-oriented introduction to the crucial battle of Gettysburg. I selected it for my nephew to learn about the battle before we visit the site this coming summer. Well done ... good basic facts and anecdotes.

The Greatest Book on Earth

This book is a great book! Nobody should pass this book up. None of it is boring! It has so much detail about the battle, battle prep, and cleanup. It is my favorite book. All the movements and everything were so vivid, that it is almost like you are there.
