Good Read

I enjoyed reading this book - it is a book to read when you are wanting to escape the reality of your day to day world. I look forward to reading all the books in the series. This was the first for me and gave me a little bit of a look into what it must be to be married to a military man - moving all the time.

Nice addition to Mom Zone series

Can't a mom just get away for a little relaxing vacation with her husband? Not if you are Ellie Avery, military spouse and amateur detective! In this third book in the Mom Zone mystery series, Ellie finds herself in the middle of another murder mystery when vacationing in Washington D.C. While her husband attends a military training, a pregnant Ellie tours the capital with the other military wives, only to witness a murder. Did a murder actually take place? Is her sister-in-law responsible? Ellie's vacation turns upside down as she runs her own investigation and even finds herself being investigated by the police! Getting Away Is Deadly is a contemporary take on the cozy mystery genre, full of hot topics like illegal immigration and terrorism. Sara Rosett's attention to detail and description adds a richness to the story not often seen in cozy mysteries. Colorful characters such as the other military wives and the interior decorator add a dose of humor throughout the story. The novel really picks up speed in the middle, and you will find it hard to put down until the tidy end. The story also highlights the joys and plights of military spouses, giving readers a greater appreciation for the families of those who serve our country. Overall, Sara Rosett's tightly woven whodunit is an entertaining tour of the nation's capital and fabulous new addition to the Mom Zone mystery series. Armchair Interviews agrees.

entertaining amateur sleuth

When your husband is in the military, plans change at a moment's notice; just ask professional organizer and pregnant Ellie Avery. She was looking forward to a Caribbean vacation with her husband Mitch who returns home from an overseas tour, but instead learns he must attend a class in sweltering DC. Like most military spouses flexible Ellie adapts and accompanies him to Washington. Ellie promise her cousin Debbie that she will meet Jay MacInalley, who served in the military with Debbie's father who died in Korea. Her family will not talk about him and she needs to know why. She also goes to see her sister- in- law Summer who works for a powerful K Street lobbyist. Before hooking up with either person, Ellie is in the Metro when a man falls down and dies. The police look at security tapes that show he was pushed. Summer knows the man who was killed and the tapes show her or her someone who looks almost exactly like her next to Jorge. Obviously the prime suspect, Ellie believes Summer is innocent and investigates to prove her assertion. Fans of amateur sleuth mysteries will relish GETTING AWAY IS DEADLY as the tale contains a delightful whodunit that serves as a tour of Washington DC. Debbie's quest and Summer's legal problems are subtly indirectly linked while spunky Ellie waddles from one clue to another resolutely trying to solve both cases with a killer watching her DC tour ready to coldly guide her to a non-tourist site, the morgue.
