Delightful from beginning to end!

A professional wrestler travels back to medieval times to slay a dragon and save a virgin? When I heard that concept, I just had to pick up a copy of this book, and I'm so glad I did. I love humorous romances, and this one kept me laughing out loud. George is a unique and endearing hero, Alizon is a feisty heroine worth slaying a dragon for, and Lisa Cach is an author who definitely has my attention. If you're looking for a book that's pure enjoyment, don't miss this one. It just might be the most entertaining book I've read this year!

A Hungry Dragon..A Helpless Virgin..A Professional Wrestler?

Extremely funny and very fairy-tale-like. A village named Markesew in medieval England is besieged by a hungry dragon who demands sheep on a daily basis and a sacrificial virgin once a year to stop him from coming ashore and wiping the farmers out. What can they do but keep picking young women each summer solstice in a 'lottery' to sate the dragon's hunger...until a young virgin sent to the dragon was too tough for the dragon's teeth...her name? Alizon...Twelve years later, a Dragonslayer arrives unexpectedly to slay the infamous dragon...except he isn't really a dragonslayer and he isn't from Markesew...or medieval England for that matter. He's just your average run-of-the-mill professional wrestler from the CUW known to his fans as St. George the Dragonslayer...What he stumbles upon can't be just a dream he is having or some weird fantasy of truly being a Dragonslayer...or can it?Who is the mysterious mistress at Devil's Mount? And why is she denying him access to her fortress? Doesn't she fear the dragon? Dream or not, George is determined to slay the dragon and save the mistress trapped in the castle...until he realizes the dream is no dream and the mistress is far more tough than the dragon...What is the secret she harbors? He must find out the truth before he is sent back to the future...and away from his heart...Extremely funny and very sexy. My first book from Ms. Cach and definately not my last. Set amid myth and legend and a little fairytale, this story is filled with adventure and romance. So much that it will keep you flipping the pages until you find out what happens with George and the dragon.I am a HUGE wrestling fan and I was very impressed with Ms. Cach's accuracy and with the way she explained how tough and real professional wrestling is. It's always dangerous and always exciting, but the men and women who do it on a daily basis for our entertainment, risk life and limb to make us cheer and smile. George was definately not 'cartoonish' or fake by any means. Bravo Ms. Cach!!!...

Fun Little Story

A scenario that I intially thought was quite odd, that of a modern-day American professional wrestler magically transported to medieval England, surprisingly works quite well. This is due to the fact that the author has made the characters totally human and realistic, rather than caricatures. The dialogue is sharp and funny, the situations both humorous and heart-breaking, the romance sexy and amusing, the writing deft. These are characters you take to your heart: George, a man who is so much more than the cartoonish image of a professional wrestler; Alizon, a girl forced to take charge of her life earlier than anyone should; Pippa, who's death would have been a sorry loss; Reyne, a living lesson of the results of superstition. George's initial belief that what was happening to him was just a dream induced by a hypnotherapy session with his sister, and his subsequent attempts to psychoanalyze the meaning of it all was hilarious. Be prepared to keep reading once you start this book!

Six stars please.

I'm not a professional reviewer and my views are entirely my own; that said, could I please give GEORGE AND THE VIRGIN more than five stars? This is a charming, very clever little book. The protagonists are likeable, the plot is simple but fun, and the humor often unexpected. This is one for my keeper list. It's for those days when the carpool has run late and my mother-in-law drops in for supper. But can we PLEASE do something about the dumb cover?

humorous time travel tale

Athena employs a special crystal to help her unhappy brother professional wrestler "Saint" George Arlington finds a modicum of contentment. George is not only recovering from an injury, but frets over learning children have been injured copying his vaunted finishing move. Instead of just hypnotizing George into some sort of harmonic trance, Athena sends her sibling back to medieval England. George believes his sibling has mesmerized him so when he meets Emoni it is easy for him to pledge that he will slay the local dragon so that the villagers won't annually sacrifice the virgin to keep the beast satiated. He travels to the dragon's island where the caretaker knocks George out, which leads to his incarceration by the old crone who feeds the dragon. As a professional wrestler, George can tell the crone is a beautiful young woman in disguise. George fails on his first two attempts to slay the dragon even as he fantasizes about his hostess. To her chagrin Alizon is very attracted to the weird outsider. Still if George survives his fight with the dragon, will he convince Alizon that this is his fantasy and in it they belong together?Lisa Cach ingeniously takes a contemporary professional wrestler and sends him back in time to fight a virgin eating dragon. Anyone who reads the tale will know that Ms. Cach is a brilliant innovator as this humorous time travel tale succeeds because the story line never deviates from not taking itself too seriously. Readers will relish the professional wrestler seeking a "script" to fight the dragon in this comedic romantic romp.Harriet Klausner
