Revised and expanded 2E of this very popular guide for Oregon rockhounds and collectors of rock, mineral and fossil specimens. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was well done and would be an asset to treasure seekers,Rockhounds, explorers who want to discover the Amazing Oregon High Desert.Agates, obsidians, jaspers, petrified woods.Oregon has it all. I have a facebook group called Oregon High Desert Agates you can join( facebook Rick Beckner) and I think you can contact Garret on facebook as well. This has color photo's that are extremely helpful.I wish he would of used more pictures of thundereggs. You can see a good cross section of Oregon Agates in my ebay store.Just search ebay home page for hdg . or highdesertgift.
Not bad for a general guide.

I used this book when I went to Madras this year and it helped with my side trips, but it doesn't give a lot of new info. The Biggs Jasper site is inaccessible (which it says in the book)so I don't know why it is even mentioned. I plan on using it for my next trip to Glass Buttes.
Our #1 for Oregon Collecting (and fun to read too!)

We've used GToO for years now and are very happy with this new edition. Index & TOC are well written so the book's easy to use. Five appendices have detailed extra info, web links to some outstanding websites, and clear-to-the-layperson detail on the legalities of what can and cannot be collected which I highly recommend for novice collectors. As someone mentioned, directions can be a bit vague but don't let that stop you - we've always found the sites. In previous editions there was some headscratching and backtracking to find the sites, but author Romaine has added GPS coordinates & better maps, making it much easier. We don't leave on a collecting trip without this in our gear.
