This book is like a gem in a bucket of coal!

Amazing book with detailed yet succinct information of all the well-established gardens, arboretums and botanical gardens in California. The book is divided into Northern, Central and Southern California - starting with Northern California and traversing down to Southern California. Each section begins with a monochrome map accompanied by placement points of the gardens. The author make it a point to identify key and unique features of each site, including but not limited to the best time to visit the site of interest, brief historical appreciation (if applicable), special arrangements made available at the site, and "must-see" sections within the garden. Each site is completed with detailed hours of operations, admission fee if any, and complete contact information, i.e. address, phone number and web address. If you are a garden lover and enjoy garden hopping, I highly recommend this book. This book has given me the opportunity to visit amazing gardens I never knew existed, even within driving distance!

Garden Walks

To say that I enjoyed 'Garden Walks in California' grossly understates how much I got out of tthe book and how it made me feel. 'Garden Walks' is a thing of beauty all in itself. You clearly show the reader how much you love what you are doing and what you are writing about without too much of the letter "I". You paint the picture and let the reader decide where to go next. Thank you. Bob Battersby
