A Beloved Fantasy From One Of Japan's Top CreatorsProlific sh jo (""girls"") comics artist Yuu Watase has created a wonderfully exciting, funny, and heartfelt tale of a normal junior-high-school girl who is transported into a fictional version of ancient China. She encounters base villains and dashing heroes, and still manages to worry about her grades and where her next banquet is coming from. THE BELOVED ROMANTIC FANTASY SERIES CONTINUES Just when Miaka thought her adventures as a priestess in ancient China were over, the god Suzaku reappeared to send her on a new quest. Miaka must reenter The Universe of the Four Gods and collect the seven magic stones that contain the lost memories of her soulmate Taka... or risk losing him forever Demon When the demon god Tenk steals the four stones that Miaka has already collected, is all hope lost for the return of Taka's memories? And will Tenk 's manipulation of Taka and Miaka's friends slowly drive wedges between them and ensure their defeat? Once again, it's up to Miaka to keep two worlds from falling under the dominion of the ultimate evil
I had to wait a really long time to get this book, but I finally got it about a month ago. Seventeen is the second to last volume in the Fushigi Yugi series, and it is just jam packed with Fushigi Yugi goodness. The whole story has come to a big climax, which I just know means that the last volume will be great. The story picks up exactly where number 16 left off, which is right after Taka's apartment blows up, and Miaka sees Tenko in the flames. Ignoring the fact that she's surrounded by news crews, and people, Miaka sends herself into the Universe of the four gods, where we get one of the few pieces of comic relief. Although, some people might not find walking up on a bunch of friends bathing is exactly fun. Well, anyway, Miaka goes to save Taka, who has been captured by Tenko. Just as Miaka and Lai-Lai get there though, Tenko is destryoing Taka's memory stones. Things continue to go down hill from there, especially when Tasuki is posessed, and some buried feelings come to the light. One of the saddest parts is when Chichiri has to face a part of his past that I don't think he was ever able to come to grips with.
