Outstanding summer thriller!

What an exciting read! Couldn't put it down. Not only was the writing exceptional (when was the last time a novelist sent YOU to the dictionary???), but the concept was thrilling. I'm unlikely to research this on my own, but I'll continue to wonder if this resource could become a viable energy source for the future. (Think back to Orwell's 1984... his only flaw was the date.) Too many novelists sum up their characters in a page or two, but Evans & Jameson have a gift for adding depth with each page. I felt that I knew these characters and could feel their angst, pain, excitement, fear, hatred...whatever the emotion. Already looking forward to the next adventure from this dynamic duo. Don't make me wait two more years!

A New and Different Disaster Thriller

If you like to immerse yourself in a nice disaster that threatens the Earth, this book is for you. Unlike the usual run of these stories (and especially motion pictures), it comes at you from a different angle. Dennis Cavendish, a billionaire, bought a tiny island located between the Bahamas and the Florida Keys. Here, he has set up his own nation, named The Paradise of Taino (or Taino, for short), with himself as dictator of an entire government. Nearby, and 4000 feet deep in the Caribbean, he has developed an undersea habitat to mine and process a seemingly-unlimited supply of crystalline methane. With it, he intends to dominate the World's energy market. But he does not count on the Eco-terrorist, Garner Blaylock, who is working to destroy the operation, no matter how many lives it costs if a massive amount of methane is loosed in the Earth's atmosphere. When Blaylock's disaster strikes, the United States Government enlists Dr. Sam Briscoe, a University of Florida professor and expert on atmospheric science, to help, and the battle to save the Earth is on! The story takes you day by day (sometimes hour by hour) in action leading to a climax almost on the last page. It moves rapidly with a nice level of excitement and realistic interactions between people. You can't help but like Dr. Briscoe.

Loved this book

I was a bit worried at first. The first couple chapters were hard to get through. The book jumped from on character to the next and I was left wondering how these people fit together. A few more chapters and I was hooked!! It was a wild ride from that point to the very end. The writing was great. The characters were very believable as was the storyline. If you are a fan of disaster stories this is a must read!!

Spellbinding

When I got to page 80, I thought, How can this continue? So much has happened already. And at that point I had over 280 pages yet to read! This is the most suspense I have encountered in quite a while, I'll tell you. A high stakes thriller for sure. It includes, among other things, the President of the USA, several of his Secretaries, a super-rich energy-science innovator and owner of an island paradise, cutting edge and speculative technology, a brilliant sociopath bad guy, a threat to the future of life on earth. What's not to like? A thoroughly enjoyable read. It kept me up to 3:00 AM one night. I didn't want to stop! If you like this kind of subject matter, set in a edge-of-your-seat page-turning story, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Mystery & Suspense Done Right

Frozen Fire was really an enjoyable book. The story was believable, and didn't leave you hanging on any points at the end like some stories do, which fail to properly tie-up the smaller details. Frozen Fire manages to keep you on your toes page after page, and it is refreshing to see so many unexpected twists and turns, instead of the usually predictable humdrum one finds. Though the story revolves around a plot scientific in nature, it doesn't bog the reader down tons of jargon that would fly over the tops of most heads, but it doesn't really treat the reader like an idiot either. Things that need proper explanation to make the events understandable are well presented and integrated into the story in a very smooth manner. Frozen Fire is an eco-disaster thriller that is well worth reading.
