It's 1893 and Bernard Clifton and his best friend Arthur Baldwin are just finishing medical school in Pennsylvania, when Julia Langley, the daughter of one of their professors, comes back from finishing school in Europe. Both men are smitten and they both set out to win her hand. Bernard wins and Arthur is jealous. So jealous that he hires a private investigator do dig up info on Bernard's family. Then he takes it to Professor Langley and now the marriage is off.So now Bernie is off North to Alaska where he meets twenty-three year old Anastasia Jenne Anton, an Indian maiden, don'tcha know. So the question is, can Bernie find happiness in the frozen North? Will he? And what of the double, crossing, double dealing Arthur. And Julia, what of her, the beautiful blonde who loves herself better than anyone else?Lots of questions for you to find answers to if you can find this book. The language was a little stilted, but I quickly got used to that. And I'm not a inspirational kind of person, so I sped through that as the story really held my interest. It just goes to prove that a good story with interesting characters will win out in the end.
