this was an awsome book by an awsome lady, for her to write about something as personal as what she went thru, she gave so many other women strength and courage to go thru their trying times, beautifully put into words and gave so many hope.
Great Read and a Great Person

I read this over a weekend when I was going to visit my son in college for parent's weekend. I finished it on the way home, when we were stuck in a train station waiting over 45 minutes because there was a bomb threat in another station and they would not let any Long Island Rail Road trains move. Thank goodness there was no bomb. I think this book, kept me calm during that wait. This book is a quick read and full of substance, and I recommend it to young and old. I found it interesting to see how decisions she has made in life has gotten her to where she is today. She has some interesting rules to live by that could help anyone live a more happier and enjoyable life. I found this book has inspired me to improve my position at work. I really enjoyed reading it and I hope to use many of Robin Roberts, rules.

This is a very inspirational book. Robin Roberts does an excellent job of describing how she got to where she is today -- giving her parents much credit for her strong family and spiritual beliefs. She gives encouragement for anyone to work for their dreams because they can be attained -- don't give up at the first rejection. I think this would be an excellent gift for a high school graduate.
Truly from the Heart

This book was wonderful. It was truly heartfelt and inspiring. The author genuinely spoke from her heart and allowed you to see her and her family from the perspective of just being ordinary people. Many of the items she touched upon is truly recognizable in what kids/people are experiencing today -- especially with the fear of the unknown or not knowing what they want to do with their life. She allowed you as the reader to see that those feelings of uncertainty are normal and even the most successful people have fears and setbacks; however, what I liked most about the book was how her life transformed from her upbringing. There were rules, guidelines, constant guidance, and most importantly PRAYER in her upbringing. Her parents were wonderful in that they were not trying to befriend their children. They truly knew there role and did an exceptional job of rearing all of there children. Robin's book highlights the LOVE, RESPECT, and ADMIRATION she has for her family, friends, and community. I must add before I conclude that Sally Ann Roberts, her sister, is truly a blessing to the citizens of New Orleans, LA. She speaks about Sally in her book and I as a viewer of Sally Ann truly understands where her SPIRIT (light) is derived from after reading Robin's book. God Bless and much LOVE to the Robert's Family...
