These Barron's series of books for beginning readers comprise a series of illustrated stories. Each book in the series uses a set of sight words and emphasizes a word family, for e.g. an, and, etc. Each story uses the root words and facilitates the child's vocabulary-building, adding more words to a child's vocabulary as he/she progresses from one book to the next. The bonus here is that the stories are fun and engaging, and my 5-year-old who will be starting kindergarten in fall has enjoyed them all and is eager to move on to the next book. Visual learners who are motivated by colorful illustrations will also love these books as they are vividly illustrated, but not overly garish as to distract from the reading experience. The children who read these series of books will experience increased confidence as they master the reading skills, and the stories are short enough that the books can be finished under 10 minutes. In "Frog Knows Best", the word families covered are 'og', and the sight words covered are so, don't, fall, know, knows, says, they, calls, think, and around. The books in Set 2 are: The Tan Can The Best Pets Yet Pip and Kip Frog Knows Best Bub and Chub Where is the Treasure? (A Bring-it-all-together Book) What a Trip (A Bring-it-all-together Book)
