Insight into the Sad Life of Matthew

Being a HUGE Friends fan since 1994. I couldn't wait to read this book! I have to admit, It made me super sad and ask why. I appreciate what he did share but I didnt enjoy the book. It just made me so sad and ask more whys. I dont wanna say anymore than that and spoil it. Even though I didnt enjoy it, I am glad I read it. RIP Matthew, I hope you feel loved and fulfilled on the other side. We will always love you here on earth.

such a great book

i love this book and i’m only on chapter four so far. it’s one of my favorite biography books, it’s so sad what happened with his death because in this book ( atleast from where i’m at now ) it seems like he was doing better and now he’s gone. if you’re thinking of getting this book you should it’s great

Enjoyed reading about the life of Mattie

I understand more about addiction now.

Difficult Read

“Friends” has a distinct language and humor indicative of all the great relational personalities within the cast. We always loved the fast comical dialogue from Chandler Bing. Matthew Perry portrayed this character with comical strength. His memoir is insightful. Agreeing with a previous review, its jumbled time line is difficult to follow. His back and forth of not blaming his parents and then blaming them is confusing at best. Also agreeing with a previous reviewer, the solid ground of an addict’s recovery is missing. Matthew allows the reader inside an addiction fueled mind which is personally helpful due to multiple addicts within our own family unit. Tormented by multiple addictions, Matthew was his own worst enemy. These addictions affected every single facet of his mind, soul, body and strength. Growing up and presently living among family addicts, the mind-consuming facet of this disease is portrayed beautifully, yet with gut-wrenching accuracy in Perry’s memoir. Matthew Perry was an intelligent and gifted man. !!Why!!oh!!Why!! is F*** (and every other derivative of this word) excessively used to describe every aspect of his life??? In the voice of Chandler’s sing song rhetoric… “Can we not use any other word?!!”

Great man and a great book

Highly recommend reading. If you know Matthew Perry from Friends or any other tv show or film, it hits hard to know what he's been going through.

In the weeds...

Every time an anecdote drew me into thinking this was a book about the good times...there was a hard reminder that there is a lot more to this story. Matthew Perry...thank you for sharing your story...and Chandler is always my favorite boyfriend ❤️...God Bless every one of us who walk through this hell...and find solid ground underneath our feet...
