Easy to read, but riddled with sloppy errors

This book is one of six (listed in the front of the book) of a series of "Mathematics for Engineers." I believe the author, W Bolton, has moved on to write titles that continue this concept. Hence, this series appears to be more of a historical significance than current reading. That said, the series is very good. The series, as listed in this book, include: 1. Laplace and z-transforms 2. Ordinary differential equations 3. Complex numbers 4. Fourier series 5. Differentiation and integration 6. Linear equations and matrices. You will most likely come across a book in the series by way of a used book store. I do not consider this book to be a rigorous treatment of the subject, nor does it claim to be. It is more of a quick restart for engineers that may need to refresh themselves of the subject with, perhaps the goal of moving on to a more advanced treatment. This book has the following chapters: 1. Linear equations 2. Gaussian elimination 3. Matrix operations 4. Determinates 5. Determinates and inverses 6. Circuit analysis 7. Structural analysis 8. Iterative methods. One key feature of this book is that there are answers for all problems in the back of the book. Nice! There are some rather sloppy errors in this book that are should have been caught by a decent proof reader. Here are two typical examples: 1. In the appendix of this book is stated the product of two complex numbers, is (r1 2. In general a complex number is represented by z = a + j*b and the complex conjugate pair are thus: z = a + j*b z* = a + j*b If it weren't for the fact that I've found so many errors, I'd say no big deal. However, the author really should have someone proof read his work before publishing a work with so many sloppy errors. No stars subtracted, however, because despite that little bit of negativity, this aspect has forced me to work all examples to validate the results (Could this be why there are errors?). So, in summary, the book is an excellent review, had plenty to offer despite errors and the fact that it is an old book (13 years). The contents are as follows: 1. Periodic Waveforms 2.
