Foundations of Pastoral Care

This is a fantastic book. It is an easy and interesting read. At the same time, it is full of information on the do's and don'ts for pastors and lay-leaders. This book covers the gambit from visitation and counseling, to shut-ins and funerals, to weddings and more. I highly recommend this book for all who want to serve in the ministry.

As a former student of Bruce's I have spent a good deal of time with him. He is a great man, pastor, and friend. His book on pastoral care is one we used in class, and I found it to be a very practical book. The illustrations and examples given are ones that we as pastors must be aware of. However, pastors are not the only ones that provide pastoral care. This book is also helpful to the lay person. The title captures the essence of the book, it tells of the foundations of pastoral care for followers of Jesus.
