Forgive Me

Forgive MeAuthor: Cathleen Crowell WebbAndMarie Chapian Forgive Me is about a lady named Cathleen Crowell Webb. But before she got married her name was just Cathleen Crowell. Cathy had a loving family; a mother, her father, and her two older brothers which whom she loved dearly. There was one set back; Cathy's parents could not take care of her so when she was around the age of three her father took her to a foster home. The foster parent was named Nellie Landers; she was an old lady who was very strict and old fashion. Nellie did not like Cathy going out with her friends so she would give her chores to do till it was time for bed. When Cathy got to around the age of eight she would always lie to Nellie so she can go out and surprisingly, it worked. Cathy became a professional at lying. When she lied she did not fidget, touch her face, sweat or any of the other symptoms of lying. A few years later Nellie was too old and was not able to take care of Cathy so Nellie sent her to another foster family. The mother's name was Carol and the father's name was Bernie. Cathy wanted them to notice her so she wanted to fake a rape. One night after work she went to a dark corner of a park and tore her clothes, cut her belly with a broken bottle, and gave herself bruises by pinching her body. When she was done she jumped out of the bushes and in front of a police car. The police officers got out and took care of her. Cathy went along with it and lied about the whole thing. A man named Gary Dotson was accused of raping Cathy and was put to jail. After that Cathy tried to go on with her life, but she could not because she was feeling guilty about putting Mr. Dotson to jail. After eight years Cathy came out and told the truth about the whole situation. The judge who handled the case before did not believe Cathy when she told them that Gary was innocent. After examination it showed that Gary was innocent and was let out of jail. I disliked how Nellie Landers treated Cathy and also how her biological father treated her. Before her wedding day she called her father and invited him to lunch. During that lunch she invited him and her father said no without thinking about and even before she got to finish her sentence. Cathy was how she was because of the way Nellie treated her. The only reason why she was lying is because of Nellie's evil ways. Nellie treated Cathy like a slave: Cathy was cleaning the house, doing the laundry, and taking care of Nellie. I felt pity for Cathy because she just wanted to be a normal person but Nellie was holding her back from that. My favorite part of the book was when Cathy got married to David Webb and moved to England. They had two kids at the time and a nice cozy place of their own. Cathy's mother got sick so when she took her into their home I was happy for her because she always wanted to be with her loving mother and this was her chance. I also liked how the book ended. Gary Dotson was out of jail and Cathy had another baby on the
