Cute and Fun, Not so Romantic

I enjoyed this book immensely. The characters were fun, the dialog witty and the story well paced. However, I didn't find there to be much romance or much mystery for that matter. The mystery of the woman in the freezer was never really solved, it was just sort of resolved at the end. And the "romance" of course resolved itself as romances always do. It's a light, enjoyable read that's perfect for the beach or killing time in an airport.

Be Careful Where You Read This Book!!!

Be careful where you read this book. I have not laughed this hard during a read in a very long time. This book is full of quirky characters, situations you hope you will never run into and a romance that startes off in the most unexpected place. Pete is trying to put together a nice funeral for her grandma, continue on with the fourth of July celebration that her town hosts and keep a smile on her face all the while. Well, that would be easy IF...when looking to put a mess of catfish into the freezer she didn't happen to see the frozen dead body of one of her late grandfather's mistress. She and her best friend are trying to come to terms with what they just saw...and more importantly what to do with it when enters Danny. Danny is her brothers divorce lawyer...he's there to start those proceedings but steps into the a bigger mess than he ever dreamed possible. Just when things can't get any worse...the dead body up and disappears. Add to this the rest of Pete's family showing up and chemistry between the playboy of the year (rumors are an ugly thing) and Pete's life has just gotten a tad more complicated. Can Pete and Danny find a common ground and quite time to see if their feelings are more than steamy lust? Oh, and just where did the dead body go? This book is not brain surgery but it's fun. Ms. Buckley has created a very fun world to visit with characters that will make you smile and at time laugh out loud. Pete and Danny are a fun set of protaganist and their romance although not as steamy as the Florida Panhandle summer is sweet and not with out it's moments. I recommend this read if you love laughter with your romance. [...]

amusing contemporary romance

Though her grandma's recent death has caused a cloud over the Langstown, Florida annual Fourth of July gala, Pietra "Pete" Lang plans to make this the best celebration ever. However, she runs into a slight problem when she and her friend Albert Rheinhold open up a freezer and finds inside the defrosting corpse of a blond with the tattoo "Miss Fritz". The victim is obviously her long deceased grandfather's floozy. Divorce attorney Danny Benedict finds Pete trying to dispose of the corpse. He is concerned as her brother Jackson is planning to run for state legislature while obtaining a divorce after ten years of marriage to wed a podiatrist. As Danny and Pete plot what to do, their initial attraction already hotter than a Floridian summer heats up; soon the are in love and he will do anything FOR PETE'S SAKE not caring about her grandma's reputation or her brother's political ambitions. Readers will appreciate the amusing contemporary romance that will remind the audience of The Trouble With Harry. The story line never takes itself too seriously as Danny and Pete struggle with proof that her beloved grandma killed her husband's lover. The romance is deftly handled as is Jackson's efforts to change wives while running for public office, but the tale belongs to a triangle populated by dead people. Harriet Klausner

A fun, clever read

I just finished this book. It was just fun and sexy all the way through. Geri Buckley has a way with words, colloquialisms and characters. I will definately be looking for her next book.

Is a first class fun read

I loved this book! The characters are not only well drawn they are someone you know and that's what makes this book a fantastic read. The dialogue is clever and quick from beginning to end. The story line is cute and not to be taken seriously which I enjoyed very much. I liked it that the author didn't clutter the book with unnecessary filler, and kept the story moving at a fast pace. You won't be disappointed with this one.
