Describes some of the foods prepared in the various areas of what would become the United States during the colonial period. Includes recipes. This description may be from another edition of this product.
George Erdosh's Food and Recipes of the Thirteen Colonies is a fine introduction to foodways of the era, that also provides a brief overview of the history of those colonies. Very young students will enjoy the simple text and wonderful illustrations. The recipes are good and simple enough, but should only be done with adult supervision. This book would present some wonderful family projects that everyone could enjoy. The simple recipes represent the different colonies and influences that make the blended cuisine thought of as American food today. As a first introduction to colonial cooking, this book is recommended.
