My children and I love this book! Cicely Mary Barker was such a talented soul. The pictures are wonderful and the poems are almost musical. A wonderful way to celebrate the "little" things and teach your children about the flowers of the summer.

An Enchanting Book

Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies of the Summer is awonderful children's book, that would be treasured by adults as well. Her illustrations of flowers and plants are botanically accurate, but the crowning glory is the fairie showcased in each picture! Her work draws us to rediscover nature from a child's eye!Cicely wrote a poem for each fairy. While I've enjoyed many of Cicely's publications, I particularly enjoy Flower Fairies of the Summer for the poetry. The poetry invites the reader to delight in the wonder and magic of nature on a summer's day. The use of words comes from another age, where there was somehow more time to indulge the senses in appreciating the intricacies nature.
