I began to read this book because I thought the cover of the book was interesting. A picture of a kind-faced woman in a hospital by an ill man. This book started on a young wealthy girl, named Florence. Her sister, Parthe, would always have parties and meet new people. Both of them would never have to attend school or even read any study material. However, Florence was different. She enjoyed reading and studying. She hated dolls, parties, and when guests came to visit her family, she would never greet them or even try to get to know them. She would just lock herself up in her own room. Sometimes, she even felt like as if she was a monster, for she was the only girl around who hated parties and whatever the other girls loved to do. No one, except for boys would have interest in study. As soon as Florence grew older, she tried to attend Medical School. Her parents were worried, for the tradition in her family was never to study, and when you grow older, you marry a rich and wealthy man and give birth to family. But Florence had no interest in it. The more she read about Medical, the more she determined to help the poor, and sick. When she was young, she pretended to heal ill people with her dolls. So now and then, she would visit the poor and ill and clean their huts, feed them, and accompany them. Rumors started about her, like, why would a wealthy girl like her, help filthy people? But she ignored all of them. Her dream was to help people, and she did. After secretly sneaking out of the house, she trained herself as a nurse. As soon as she was professional enough, she opened her own hospital, called the Nightingale Hospital. During World War II, many of their soldiers were injured, and Florence and her nurses were there at their needs twenty-four/seven. They called her the "Lady-with-the-Lamp." It became so famous that Florence was getting popular. Later in her life, she meets a gentlemen. They fall in love, however, Florence could not marry him, for she believed that if she did, her dream of taking care of injured people would be ruined, and she thought that it was more important. The Nightingales, soon accepted Florence to own a hospital and help people when she was successful. Although Florence is different, she is different in a unique and special way. This book inspired me to be someone like Florence Nightingale after reading.
