Kara is just doing her best, man.

A cute, simple little story! Like with the first, it chooses its battles and is only trying to do a few things, but I think it does those things well. Without the theme of motherhood, this one feels a little less unique than the first one, but it has more emotional weight and is more enjoyable to read. Kaeldra is alone except for dragon babies for a long long time in the first book, and it creates a unique atmosphere and theme, but in my opinion it left it feeling a little empty. The side characters in this book are lovely, and even the romance is sweeter and feels more natural.

A good fun read

I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought that is was fun and exciting journey though the life of Kara, the first dragon-sayer. She was a wonderful main charater. I think that Susan Fletcher is an excellent author and I loved all three of the books in this series.

Excellent story and emotional at one part... lol

I bought this book a long time ago, and set it in my shelf, since after reading 5 pages, I thought it was downright boring. Then 2 weeks ago, I had to go to San Francisco for 3 days in a rented van (it was GIANT...lotsa space to sleep in, LOL). I brought some books in my shelf to ease my boredom. I happened to bring Flight of the Dragon Kyn, which was the first book I read on the van. It was AWESOME and I cried at one part too...LOL. After coming back to Long Beach, I ran to Borders and bought Dragon's milk and Sign of the Dove, which proved not to be as good as Flight of the Dragon Kyn, the book in the trilogy I most enjoyed! A must read for dragon lovers! (And that would be me..?)

This is the best fantasy book I have ever read!

This book was a masterpiece. I think Susan Fletcher is one of the best authors I have stumbled across and it is a pity she hasn't written more books. I just thought it would be an okay book but it rivals The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia as one of the best fantasy stories in the world.

Flight of the Dragon Kyn sweeps you away..

In as short a summary of words as I can manage, I would like to say that this book is an awesome, descriptive tale that actually makes you feel as if you're a part of it all. I like to write myself, and this book always gives a confidence boost whenever I get stumped over what to write next. ^_^

A hard-to-get, exciting prequal to, "Dragon's Milk".

This imaginative book, tells of Kara, a young girl who was taken ill with vermilion fever. She is left for dead in a cave, where she is nursed to health by a dragon. Now with the power to speak to dragons, and call their kyn (birds), she is summoned by a king. This story gives the history of the green-eyed line, before Kaeldra (the main character in "Dragon's Milk). It can be read alone, as it's own story. My suggestion is to read "Dragon's Milk" first. It adds the flavor, Suan Fletcher was aiming for
