Flashpoint

I haven't read the Montana Fire series that these books are based on but I loved this story. It's full of action, faith, humor, romance, overcoming fear, and lots of suspense. I honestly hadn't figured out who the bad guy was by the end of the story. Emily Micah is a hotshot firefighter who is working on overcoming PTSD from when she was a kid and Spenser Storm is an actor who is overcoming trauma from a past stalker. They help each other face their fears and work towards a future together.

What a fantastic start to this new spin-off series of Montana Fire. I actually haven't read Montana Fire series but did read Summer of the Burning Sky - I had no trouble following along the storyline. The suspense was pretty intense and the villain was cleverly concealed until the very end. I loved Emily and her bravery as a hotshot, dedication to keeping people safe, and tenacity in working through her past trauma. Her fangirling over Spenser was quite cute at the beginning but she quickly got over her awe; I loved her easy and natural friendship and bond with Spenser that blossomed into romance. And Spenser - man, he was an unforgettable hero. Equipped with charisma, charm, talent, tenderness, real love for people and burdened by tragedy, failure, and trauma, Spenser Storm was a down-to-earth man trying to find his place and purpose. I could totally relate to his struggles. Their romance was sweet and their faith journey was quite satisfying. I can't wait for the second book in the series!
