I've been reading to my daughter ever since she was about 1 month old. And this book has always gotten her attention. It is shorter than the 10 Little Ladybugs, so she can stick with it. And she is intrigued by the ladybugs she can feel. Now she is one year old, and she always eagerly turns the pages herself to see the ladybugs "disappear". She also picks this book to "read" by herself on the floor alot. It is a cute and colorful book, and it has held up great.
A colorful and entertaining favorite.

My daughter loved the first copy of this book to pieces before she was even one year old. I taped it together with packing tape after a few months and she was so thrilled to see her FAVORITE book again. She will sit on the floor and read it over and over. The story has a nice rhythm to it and bold and colorful illustrations that expand the learning curve beyond simple counting. I think that the ladybug setting is more whimsical than some of the other "Five Little (insert character)" counting books. The nice thing about this book as opposed to its 10 ladybug counterpart is that the smaller size makes it much easier for little hands to turn the pages and solo read. Of course as often as not it is simply brought to Mommy or Daddy to read as well. Overall an excellent children's book.

This book is a fun read and quick too! The illustrations are colorful and fun to discuss. The book is a counting book which helps children learn their numbers and can use each page as a alphabet lesson also. example F is for fish!
Brilliantly colored book that helps with counting

I think this beautiful book with an interesting rhyme is fun to look at as well as read. The bugs are three-d (for lack of better description) and are different looking. A fun aspect of this book is that while the story makes it sound as if the bugs were being eaten, they all seem to show back up at the end of the book. I like the illustrations. They're very appropriate for small children and are brilliantly colored. It's a fun book, easy enough to read (even over and over again), and it's a book that'll help with the practice of counting backwards.
